Farewell

One hot morning of June, I’ve just finished hauling my bags inside room 109. Earlier I was ecstatic to know that I will have a new dormitory to stay. As I signed beside my name and new room number, I skimmed previous pages of the checklist hoping to find the same number before the guard puts it away but to no good. I was quite happy though thinking that it would be one of God’s surprises for me. As I finished dressing my bed, still tired and exhausted with the unbearable heat, I lay on it still pondering who my new roommate will be not knowing a few minutes later she will arrive. As the door opened I held my breath to see who the mystery person was. I was surprised to see it was Razel.

I knew her back in Kalayaan as she was the corridor representative of the Naughty-Ka, our partner corridor. I never thought we would get along well because I remember when I first walked inside their room to meet her back in freshman year; I had the impression of her being aloof, studious and loner very contrary to my cheerful and optimistic personality. But the long days of being together has made us love same things evidenced by our matching slippers, and table and shelf motifs.

I will never forget the times we had. Who could forget the lengthy conversations when we would just stay-up till wee hours of the morning talking about Bob or Carrot or any topic we would come across with. Our occasional nightly trips to the infirmary with so many bloopers will always make me smile (*wink). I’ll miss the mushroom soup and cakes we had in Oz with Suzaku and Butterscotch while I play **** and you finish your paper. Our shopping sprees in SM North where I introduced you to my gyudon addiction will always be reminisced every time I’ll eat Japanese food. I will also miss our anime marathons, our Christmas carols even in the middle of February, and our schedules on post-it’s which we usually don’t follow.

I would like to thank you for several things. I remember you helped me finished my token for my master which was a cross stitch of a pig. You also introduced me to Nodame, which sparked my interest in Manga. Thank you for all the food treats; the best part was when we ate at Pizza Hut after your Uncle’s Oath taking. That time I discovered the best drink which is the Caribbean Smoothie. Thank you for all the Accounting assignments you helped me rewrite when I accidentally took them home before the end of the semester.

For all the sign-outs you’ve signed me in, for every fruit cocktail and cereal I ate, for every staple I asked from you thank you so much for providing them. Thank you also for making my birthdays special, for always being there when I need someone to talk to, for giving me advice when I asked them, for taking care of me when I’m ill, and for always praying for me.

It’s 1:30 pm now, I have to go. We parted with a hug just like we first met. We may never share these moments again but I’m glad we did. Sayonara Chibi-san. Ganbatte kudasai! *tears
